Alfred Benesch & Associates Founded

This year Alfred Benesch & Associates was founded as a structural / civil engineering firm.

1952
Expanded expertise

Expertise was expanded to include railroad and highway bridge design and construction management.

1975
Value Engineering Added

Benesch incorporated Value Engineering into it’s list of services. VE continues to be a service that sets us apart from other engineering firms.

1984
10 & 30 South Wacker Wins Eminent Conceptor Award

Presented by the Consulting Engineers Council of Illinois.

Expanded offices to three states

By the early 1980’s Benesch had offices in Wisconsin, Michigan and Illinois.

1986
Benesch Grows Through First Merger

Benesch merged with Tony Gee & Quandel in Pottsville, PA, gaining water/wastewater services.

I-255 over the Mississippi River Wins Eminent Conceptor Award

Presented by the Consulting Engineers Council of Illinois.

Wacker Drive Reconstruction Wins Eminent Conceptor Award

Murray Baker Bridge Truss Shortening wins Eminent Conceptor Award

Expansion into the Great Plains Region

Benesch merged with HWS Consulting Group headquartered in Lincoln, NE. Adding offices in Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Kansas and expanding our services to include geotechnical and hazardous waste. Benesch has 15 offices in eight states.

Expansion into the Southeast Region

Merge with Clinard Engineering Associates, LLC headquartered in Nashville, TN, broadens our geographic reach into the Southeast.

Stearns Road Corridor Wins Eminent Conceptor Award

Presented by the American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois.

Merger with Denver-Based LONCO, Inc.

Expanding our Great Plains Region and increasing our civil, structural and transportation services.

Continued Growth!

Merger with Purcell Associates adds two new offices within our Mid-Atlantic Region, Glastonbury, CT and Boston, MA and strengthens our core transportation services. 475 employees with offices in 12 states.

Merger with Delich Roth & Goodwillie (DRG) Expands our Great Plains Region

This merger adds two new offices; Bonner Springs, KS and Kansas City, MO and expands services in civil, structural, transportation, water/wastewater and the addition of M/E/P.

2014
Wacker Drive and Congress Parkway Interchange Project

Earned the prestigious ACEC’s 2014 Grand Conceptor Award, the organization’s highest honor.

Growing our Southeast Region

Merger with Site Solutions, a Charlotte-based firm, expands our services to include site planning and landscape architecture and increases our offices in 14 states with approximately 520 employees.

2015
Expanding our Great Lakes Region

Merger with Tucker, Young, Jackson, Tull, Inc. (TYJT), a Detroit, Michigan based environmental and civil engineering firm. The addition of TYJT expands the company’s water/wastewater and transportation design services. We have 600 employees located in offices throughout 15 states.

Metra CREATE P-1 Englewood Flyover CM wins Eminent Conceptor Award

Presented by the American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois.

Benesch Expands in the Southeast

Benesch merged with Ghyabi & Associates with offices in Ormond Beach, Orlando and Jacksonville, Florida bringing additional capacity to the firm’s service profile.
