Benesch Earns Multiple Awards at Annual ACE Connecticut Dinner
Glastonbury, CT – May 2016 – The Connecticut Society of Civil Engineers Section of ACE recognized two Benesch projects at their 2016 Awards banquet. The June Road Bridge Project and the Tanger Outlet Project. Benesch’s Connecticut Division Manager, James Fuda, was also presented with the ACE Lifetime Member Award. This award is presented to civil engineers who have demonstrated outstanding lifetime achievement, leadership and a long-term commitment to excellence.
The June Road Bridge is listed on the Connecticut Register of Historical Places. Benesch worked with the city of Stamford to rehabilitate the bridge to improve the safety and help it meet State and Federal structural standards, while still maintaining its historic aesthetic. Benesch earned the ACE Award in Structural Engineering for this project.
The Tanger Outlet Project was recognized with the ACE Award in Planning. Tanger Outlets at Foxwoods was envisioned as the nation’s first high end designer outlet experience at a casino, however this idea presented many design challenges. Benesch helped examine the original project idea, provided strategies for resolving concerns and developed concepts. The ensuing collaborative partnership provided an environment for planning, design and construction innovation to flourish.
