Restoring the West Branch of the Schuylkill River

Mining from one of the largest anthracite coal mine beds in the world resulted in acid mine drainage and significant flow loss to the Schuylkill River headwaters in Pennsylvania. The Schuylkill County Conservation District retained Benesch to restore the West Branch. Benesch conducted a comprehensive stream flow loss investigation using ground penetrating resistivity equipment to target areas for restoration and provided survey, H&H modeling, permitting and design services for this $407,000 stream restoration project.
