North Washington Street Bridge | Boston, MA

Benesch is currently designing the North Washington Street (Charlestown) Bridge for the City of Boston, MA. Built in 1900, the existing 1100 foot-long, 12-span bridge crosses the Charles River and connects the North End and Charlestown Communities. Serving as the gateway to Boston’s North End and carrying the Freedom Trail, the City is committed to replacing the existing deteriorating structure with a new distinctive bridge. The preferred bride-type provides a substructure with concrete V-Piers that support four lines of continuous trapezoidal steel box girders.
