Chicago Transit Authority

95th Street Terminal Improvement TMP

Chicago, IL

The Chicago Transit Authority’s (CTA) 95th Street Red Line station over the Dan Ryan Expressway serves thousands of commuters daily and is a vital part of the City of Chicago‚Äôs south side transit network. The CTA needed to prepare a Transportation Management Plan (TMP) to help reduce and eliminate crashes, as well as mitigate congestion due to work zones related to the 95th Street Terminal Improvement Project. The agency enlisted Benesch to develop the TMP, which required heavy planning and analysis to anticipate any interference or lane closures on the Dan Ryan Expressway that may occur during the overall project. The team developed a Traffic Control Plan, Transportation Operations Plan, and Public Information Plan to ensure a safe working environment. Efforts also included the development of simulation models (morning, evening, off peak and night), and intersection analysis to evaluate the impacts to the Dan Ryan Expressway.
