A high accident rate led the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) to move forward with the reconstruction of the I-96/M-43 interchange in Lansing, MI. As design-build lead, Benesch provided freeway, roadway and bridge design, maintenance of traffic plans, utility and drainage design, and more. Interchange improvements included removal of two entrance loop ramps and additional turn lanes at the M-43/Canal Road intersection to increase capacity and boost safety. New sidewalks also provide pedestrian access through the interchange.
