Great Lakes Water Authority

Ford Road Booster Station

Detroit, MI

Originally constructed in 1961, the Ford Road Booster Station housed five line and reservoir pumps which lacked proper control features to maintain adequate pressure and supply customers in suburban Detroit.

The Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA) enlisted Benesch to lead the study of discharge pressure control alternatives and design a pressure-control solution and implementation plan that integrated other pump station valve improvements.

Benesch assisted the GLWA with bid and negotiation, permitting coordination, construction administration and system operation and maintenance (O & M) manual trainings.
