This $3 billion project aimed to improve capacity and operational efficiency, enhance safety, and manage congestion due to population growth in Houston. Multiple areas of the project impact existing UPRR infrastructure including structures and mainline tracks in the downtown area. The UPRR tasked Benesch with providing track/civil and structural design plan review services for all UPRR infrastructure impacted along this three-mile corridor, including modification/ replacement of at least six existing railroad bridges and one new railroad bridge. Benesch is also slated to provide future reviews and construction management services during the construction phase that impacts UPRR infrastructure.
