The Marquette Interchange is a massive freeway structure in downtown Milwaukee, connecting multiple interstates and state highways as they weave their way in and out of the city to the north, west and south. Originally constructed in the 1960’s, the interchange’s reconstruction was the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s largest construction project to date at the time of construction. The project provided much needed deck replacement and structure widening throughout the interchange.
Benesch was selected to lead construction services for the south leg portion of the project, which heavily impacted local businesses, residents, and commuters. Benesch coordinated extensive public involvement efforts to distribute information through multiple channels to minimize impacts to these stakeholders.
