Three Bridges Park Wins WWTS Project of the Year

Milwaukee, ILOctober 2013 – The Wisconsin Women Transportation Seminar (WWTS) has named Three Bridges Park, a Benesch design project in Milwaukee, WI, as Project of the Year. The park is a massive ecological land restoration that transformed an abandoned brownfield into an urban environmental oasis. This award recognizes projects that improve accessibility to key services, employment and other opportunities; support community values; make a difference in the lives of its users; feature multi-modal transportation; include women in meaningful leadership roles; and more.

Three Bridges Park covers 24 acres and contains two miles of new multi-use trail, rolling hills and three signature pedestrian bridges, providing numerous recreational amenities as well as access to jobs and businesses in the Menomonee Valley. Benesch served as lead designer for the project, developing innovative solutions from unique erosion control elements and a one-of-a-kind storm water management system to special structural and topography elements.
