Benesch worked with the City of Rock Hill to design a two-mile segment of multi-use trail adjacent to the Catawba River and Manchester Creek. The 10′ wide paved trail extension connects to the four-mile Riverwalk mixed-use development trail system. Combined, the six-mile Riverwalk and Catawba River Trail system is part of a network that will connect Fort Mill to Rock Hill.
Improvements included multi-use trail, 135-foot trail canopy in a Norfolk Southern Railroad right of way (Nations Ford railroad trestle), multiple creek crossings, two road crossings, signage, and site furnishings.
Scope of services included surveying, master planning, construction documents, permitting, and bidding. Permitting included hydraulic analysis, wetland delineation, and cultural resource identification survey.
