Benesch is completing a Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) study to identify the location of a new interchange located along Interstate 80 near Omaha, Nebraska. The proposed interchange will be located in Sarpy County between the locations of Nebraska Highway 31 interchange to the west and Nebraska Highway 370 interchange to the east.
This study will review the need to relieve operational and safety deficiencies at existing interchanges, the accommodation of truck and vehicular mobility as well as existing and planned economic development. Benesch is working with the Omaha-Council Bluffs Metropolitan Area Planning Agency, in coordination with Sarpy County, Nebraska to develop a range of alternatives, ultimately resulting in a single preferred location or a series of preferred alternatives, with interchange design types that can be carried forward into the preliminary design and NEPA process.
This PEL study is the first to occur in the Omaha Metro, and will be a keystone project for the growth and development of Sarpy County and the region for decades to come.
